Adult AuDHD Assessment

Considering an AuDHD Test?
Autism + ADHD = AuDHD
It’s more common than you think. Unfortunately, it is so often misunderstood or misdiagnosed by providers who aren’t trained to recognize the nuance of late-identified AuDHD experiences.
The overlap between autism and ADHD can be complex. When it seems like some of your experiences might even seem to overlap or “contradict” one another, an AuDHD test can help you make sense of your neurotype.
We see you.
Our AuDHD assessments are designed specifically for adults just like you.

What is AuDHD?
It’s kind of like having a brain that operates on two different wavelengths.

What You Can Expect on Your Assessment Day
First, Autism Assessment
We’ll start with a brief orientation to the AuDHD assessment process and what to expect. We then begin with a conversation-based autism assessment using the MIGDAS-2, a clinical interview designed for adult autism evaluations. Instead of firing off yes/no questions or asking infantilizing things like “Did you play with trains as a kid?”, we invite you to share your real experiences in your own words.
We pay attention to how you communicate, how you process the world, your sensory experiences, and social patterns, especially the ones that might have flown under the radar. Throughout the autism assessment, we’ll adapt to your pacing and your communication style. You can ask questions, pause, circle back, stim, take breaks, and be fully yourself.
Transition to ADHD Assessment
Once we’ve explored your experiences through an autistic lens, we’ll transition into the ADHD assessment, using the DIVA-5, a diagnostic interview that focuses on adult ADHD. By this point in the process, we’ve usually already uncovered many relevant ADHD patterns during the earlier autism conversation (because, yes, there’s a lot of overlap). So the DIVA-5 portion tends to move more quickly and builds on the foundation we’ve already established.
The ADHD assessment dives into attention, focus, executive functioning, impulsivity, and other related traits, looking at how these show up now and across your life.
AuDHD Diagnosis, Autism Diagnosis, or ADHD Diagnosis
A lot of people hear “AuDHD test” and assume it’s only for folks who meet criteria for both autism and ADHD. That’s not how we approach this. We’re assessing each neurotype independently, with an affirming understanding of how they often overlap or interact. Not only can we help you answer the question, “what is AuDHD?” but also help you understand “what does AuDHD mean for me?”
At the end of the process, we’ll talk through our clinical impressions and let you know whether you meet criteria for autism, ADHD, both, or neither. You’ll never be left wondering what we’re thinking, we go over everything with you clearly and respectfully.
After the AuDHD Test: Feedback and Next Steps
Once we’ve completed both parts of the assessment, we’ll review your results, walk you through our feedback, and talk about next steps. Depending on what you need, this may include a full diagnostic report, or support recommendations tailored to your goals.

Frequently Asked Questions
AuDHD is an informal term used to describe the co-occurrence of autism and ADHD. Research indicates that these two diagnoses frequently overlap; studies estimate that between 30–80% of autistic individuals also meet criteria for ADHD, and a significant percentage of individuals with ADHD meet criteria for autism.
While each neurotype has distinct diagnostic criteria, their co-occurrence can create a unique clinical presentation. For example, difficulties with attention, organization, and impulse control associated with ADHD may coexist with the social-communication differences, sensory processing differences, and preference for structure commonly associated with autism. Understanding what AuDHD is requires careful evaluation to distinguish between overlapping features and to recognize how the two diagnoses interact in daily life.
Not at all. We don’t assess AuDHD as one single diagnosis, we explore both thoroughly. If your profile aligns with one but not the other, you’ll still leave with the diagnosis that fits you.
Many of our clients come to us with an existing ADHD diagnosis but still choose to pursue AuDHD assessment for a more holistic evaluation of their neurotype or to receive updated documentation. Others feel confident in their existing ADHD diagnosis and opt for autism assessment on its own.
It varies a bit by person, but typically about 3 hours. We begin with the MIGDAS-2 for autism and then transition into the DIVA-5 for ADHD. Because there’s often overlap between ADHD and autistic traits, we build on the insights already shared, which keeps it conversational, efficient, and less draining.
