The Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in adults third edition (DIVA-5) is a semi-structured interview based on the DSM-5 criteria for ADHD. The interview was designed to improve assessments for adults, which has historically been problematic due to a lack of knowledge and training among professionals and the stereotypical beliefs about how ADHD presents. The DIVA-5 assesses adult ADHD symptoms through concrete and realistic examples of current and retrospective behaviors, using examples based on common descriptions provided by adults with ADHD.
The 60-90 minute interview is conducted by telehealth and used to gather information related to ADHD symptoms occurring across five areas of life:
Work and education
Relationships and family life
Social Contacts
Free time and hobbies
Self-confidence and self-image
