Dating Sites for Autistic Adults: 3 Apps Worth Trying

Table of Contents:
Finding the right dating sites for autistic adults is only one part of dating as an autistic or neurodivergent adult. Many people don’t realize they’re autistic until adulthood, after years of feeling different in relationships or struggling to understand unwritten social expectations. Whether you’re newly exploring autism or already have an adult autism diagnosis, finding neurodivergent-affirming spaces can make dating feel much more approachable.
If you’re looking for dating sites for autistic adults or an autistic dating app that feel more neurodivergent-affirming, there are a few options worth exploring. In this edition of Dear AuDHD Auntie, we answer a reader’s question about where autistic adults might find friendship, community, and romantic connection.
Dear AuDHD Auntie,
Is there a dating site you recommend for “high-functioning” autistic adults?
Signed,
Looking for Connection
Dear Looking for Connection,
Two dating sites for autistics come to mind: Hiki App and Lex App.
Hiki: A Dating App Designed for Autistic Adults
Hiki App is designed by neurodivergent folks for neurodivergent folks so it is specifically for our community.
It was created to help neurokin find friendship, dating, and community, and has multiple ways to connect with others, including by special interest. I personally haven’t used it, but this person has checked it out. Anyone else here love sharks??
Lex: A Neurodivergent-Friendly Dating App for LGBTQIA+ Adults
Lex App is an app by and for queer and LGBTQ+ folks and is for dating, friendship and community. While it’s not neurodivergent-specific, the Venn diagram of LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent is almost a circle, so it’s pretty neuro-affirming. It’s also trans, nonbinary, pansexual, bisexual, poly and consensual non-monogamy affirming.
Lex is uniquely designed after the personal ads from back in the day that would appear in the newspaper so it is primarily text based. Users can post want ads for anything from a queer movie watch party to spicy hookups to fellow knitters in their area interested in meeting up to posting a missed connection and seeing what happens.
I have used Lex in the past, and one thing I appreciate about the majority of posts I came across is how direct they were, just people asking for what they want with no guessing games or hidden “rules” to navigate.
Both are free to join; I’m not sure if Hiki has paid levels as well. There may be others out there that I don’t know about so I welcome any recommendations our readers might have too!
Update: Dating Apps for Autistic Adults
We just heard about NDFriends. It’s a friendship app and dating app for neurodivergent adults.
NDFriends: A Community-Focused Dating App for Neurodivergent Adults
NDFriends was created specifically for neurodivergent adults, including autistic and ADHD folks. Unlike many mainstream dating apps, it emphasizes finding friendship and community alongside romantic relationships, so there’s less pressure if you’re simply looking to connect with people who “get it.”
One thing that stood out to me is that the app is intentionally designed to feel calmer and more sensory-conscious. It encourages neurodivergent people to be upfront about things like communication styles, social energy, masking, burnout, and sensory needs rather than expecting everyone to follow the same unwritten dating rules.
This autism dating app also includes community features like discussion spaces and mood updates, making it feel more like a neurodivergent social community than a traditional dating app. And if dating isn’t your goal right now, that’s okay too. It’s designed for friendship, support, and community as well as romance.
Final Thoughts
Both Hiki and Lex are free to join, though I’m not sure whether Hiki offers paid membership options. There may be other great dating apps for autistic adults that I haven’t tried yet, so I’d love to hear recommendations from our readers as well.
Good luck out there,
AuDHD Auntie
Dating Can Feel Different for Autistic Adults
Dating can be exhausting when you feel like you’re constantly trying to decode social expectations or hide parts of yourself to fit in. Many autistic adults spend years wondering why relationships feel so much more effortful than they seem to for other people.
Understanding your neurotype can make it easier to recognize your strengths, communicate your needs, and seek relationships where you don’t have to pretend to be someone you’re not. If you’re wondering whether autism may explain your experiences, learn more about our adult autism assessments.
