Dating Apps for “High-Functioning” Autistic Adults

Graphic of AuDHD Auntie post, free advice column for neurodivergent adults. AuDHD Auntie answers a question about neurodivergent dating apps.

Dear AuDHD Auntie,

Is there a dating site you recommend for “high-functioning” autistic adults?

-Looking for Connection

Dear Looking for Connection,

Two dating apps for autistics come to mind: Hiki App and Lex App.

Dating Apps for Autistics

Hiki App

Hiki App is designed by neurodivergent folks for neurodivergent folks so it is specifically for our community.  It was created to help neurokin find friendship, dating and community and has multiple ways to connect with others including by special interest.  I personally haven’t used it but this person has, check it out – anyone else here love sharks??

Lex App

Lex App is an app by and for queer and LGBTQ+ folks and is for dating, friendship and community.  While it’s not neurodivergent-specific, the Venn diagram of LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent is almost a circle, so it’s pretty neuro-affirming.  It’s also trans, nonbinary, pansexual, bisexual, poly and consensual non-monogamy affirming.

Lex is uniquely designed after the personal ads from back in the day that would appear in the newspaper so it is primarily text based.  Users can post want ads for anything from a queer movie watch party to spicy hookups to fellow knitters in their area interested in meeting up to posting a missed connection and seeing what happens.

I have used Lex in the past and one thing I appreciate about the majority of posts I came across is how direct they were just people asking for what they want with no guessing games or hidden “rules” to navigate.

Both are free to join; I’m not sure if Hiki has paid levels as well.  There may be others out there that I don’t know about so I welcome any recommendations our readers might have too!

Good luck out there,
